Best Practices for Agents

What is a VISS.AI Agent?
A VISS.AI Agent is an AI assistant with three key components:
Chat abilities: Conversations and answers to questions
Tools: Special capabilities that let your Agent run custom built workflows
Integrations: Perform specific actions in your connected apps
Think of Agents as team members with specific roles in your workflow.
5 Keys to Creating Effective Agents
1. Give Agents Specific Roles
Recommended approach:
Create agents for specific purposes (like specialized team members)
Assign clear responsibilities rather than multiple unrelated jobs
Example: Instead of a general "Marketing Assistant," create a "Social Media Content Manager"
Why this works: Focused agents perform better at specific tasks than generalists trying to do everything.
2. Limit Tools Strategically
Best practice:
Assign a maximum of 10 tools per agent
Choose tools that directly support the agent's core purpose
Avoid adding tools just because they're available
Note: More tools doesn't mean a better agent.
3. Make Identity Clear
When creating your agent:
Choose a name that clearly reflects its purpose
Write a description that explains:
This helps others understand your agent's role at a glance.
4. Customize Behavior
Tailor your agent's communication style:
Response Length: Choose Concise, Balanced, or Detailed
Personality Traits: Select characteristics like Analytical, Creative, Helpful, or Formal
Match these settings to your agent's purpose and audience.
5. Add Custom Instructions (Optional)
For more control, write custom instructions that specify:
The agent's expertise and knowledge areas
How it should approach different requests
Any limitations or boundaries
When and how to use specific tools
